remember...

"...pain does not live in my heart, nor does it compel me to want to call you, but the lack of kindness and thoughtfulness reminds me of how love once, can be so painful..."

Outside of jeju: Seoul Fringe Festival

The 12th annual Seoul Fringe Festival, perhaps also known as the "open festival" allowed visitors, expats and koreans to enter into Seoul's art world. Hundreds of art shows, exhibits, festivals, concerts, markets, and alike flourished from August 13 through August 29, marking just all the more excitement for me. Covered with people and art of many kinds every stimuli was peaked; not to mention free admission into all arenas!

This is an annual event so mark it down, because it is well worth the visit.

My Kids Love Me: Happy Birthday Teacher!

am truly blessed, and was shocked. The kids remembered my bday, and did we have fun! My kids brought in 2 different cakes, one chocolate and one strawberry shortcake. If you don't know Koreans make AWESOME cakes! The day was filled with so many hugs, laughs, hand made presents, letters, cards, gifts, and homemade cupcakes, and a pound cake just for me; from one of my older students. Oh and I can't forget a the PIZZA party, however I was to busy scarfing down I forgot to take pics.
Here are a few pics above.

drown the noise of kids.

EARPLUGS are perfect!
But if by chance you are having a particular rough day, and the moment you get to work your classroom is filled with screaming kids. There is a simple way to drown out or perhaps lift your spirits, of course besides earplugs, ha!

Once in, the craziness of the world of hagwons, kids, or noise, a really good relaxer is listening to some of your favorite beats. Music to drown out the screams or to get you on any type of level to teach, works wonders.

I happen to love to sit in my class, jump on the computer and get some things done before work. However, my kids are already in or running to get into my classroom once I arrive. Thus the music sets the mood...

HANSKIN cafe, Seoul, SK

Hanskin is a local cosmetic brand in Seoul, and was voted one of the most prestigious and luxurious brands of 2008' having it's own extravagant layout located on a busy street in Seoul's Gangnam Financial district seems all to fitting. On the first floor, is a lovely outdoor/indoor cafe, which I found on me and my friend's way home. Had to stop in. Those circles you see on the stone wall covered the entire sky raised building; making it exceptionally aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The outdoor cafe was perfect for Seoul's midnight summer's, humid and cool heated air. A hefty rich chocolate brownie with freshly made organic vanilla ice cream, with a friend, does more than you know to settle the irritation of the day's searingly sultry weather.

send out the love...

"The answer was simple. Be a messenger of love. As I walk through the airport and pass hundreds of people, be the love they are yearning for. Allow the love in my heart to shine through every cell of my being and transfer a bit of love to everyone who I could connect with. Even though I desperately wanted to stay inside the cocoon of my own inner world, today I would let go of who I usually am while I'm traveling and instead be a loving expression of divine love."

~Section from Debbie Ford's email.

O how sweet is the day...

...when you wake up to the smell of fresh ground coffee; how the aroma entices you.
eases away any morning of indifference, and leads you on a way to clarity.
thank you family for sending me these great gifts; how I miss the days of toast, baguettes, croissants, and coffee conversations.
i love you

the connection with people, places, and things

...I wonder how times of minutes drop by
When my thoughts go out to you...

This picture was taken during my one of two backpacking trips to Europe. A sculptor in work of rememberance, Salamanca, Spain.

I just had a wonderful conversation, with an old friend, who I haven't spoken to in a while.

And I was just thinking of the connections we make with people, places and things in our lifetimes {I say it with an 's" b/c I believe in past lives, that carry over to us in this life, thus accumulating to our 'now' lifetime of who we are and what we want to be} that give prevalence to our very making. Connections never seem to die, they live immortal, with continous effects on us and everyone and everything we do, make, meet, think about, and remember. The intensity and propensity, when we sit back and recollect, seems so prolific.

Below, is a memory of mine capsulated in a short recording, while I was in Madrid. I attended a Flamenco show in the back of a restaurant called Casa Patas. Their Flamenco show is, literally, known as one of the best in Madrid. They have shows Monday through Thursday, and the restaurant has homemade desserts, and array of meat, ham and cheese dishes.

The reason for my posting, and reverting back to this moment, is due to the automatic feeling I had of rememberance while writing. It was so intense, and magical I sobbed through the whole show. I was so taken by the music, passion and dancers that I felt my soul was spread throughout the whole room, and everyone there, at that occasion, foreigner or Spaniard, were all connected.

Enjoy.

the breaths of summer storms

On Jeju, northwest side, the winds are running a muck of joy, liberation, coolness, and strength.
With her occassional flurries of rain; leaving thoughts of whether or not to bring the yellow umbrella for my day, I am enchanted by her breaths.
Makes me stop in my tracks, at moments, and close my eyes to become of apart of her life.
I feel like I can fly, when I am standing still.
She amazes me, yes I say she.
I can feel the woman presence of her, with her tempremants and joy she seems one with any creed; so I choose my own.
August in month and instead of warm, heated days, she bleeds us with indian summer, and spring rains; in and outs of passions with muggy heat.
She intrigues me; some are bored, others are occupied, and I am enthralled.
Seems she lets you dream how you interpret and perceive.
Leaving it up to you on how you subsit on her part of earth.
The smell of her breathe brings mixed rememberances and sentiments.
Brooding over past, present, and future happenings.

Instead I make myself an espresso, lited by a cigarette, and let her become my muse.
